A Three-Year Formation Path

Dedicant Training - Year One

Foundation, Purification & the Beginning of the Mystical Life

Year One establishes the foundation upon which everything that follows is built. The student begins not by pursuing extraordinary spiritual experiences, but by developing discipline, self-awareness, personal responsibility, energetic stability, and an increasingly intimate relationship with God through Christ.

Developing a personal code of conduct and Rule of Life. Students begin establishing the ethical, spiritual, and practical disciplines that will govern their training, relationships, personal behavior, prayer life, and eventual service to others.
The history of the teachings and Christ as the blueprint for transformation. Students explore what it means to move beyond simply believing in Christ toward intentionally modeling the life, consciousness, compassion, courage, forgiveness, and service demonstrated by Jesus of Nazareth.
Energetics and personal cultivation. Students are introduced to the relationship between the physical body, energetic body, mind, emotions, and spirit, learning foundational practices for cultivating, regulating, and conserving the energy necessary for deeper spiritual work.
Introduction to forgiveness and soul retrieval. Forgiveness is approached as both a Christian imperative and a practical method of releasing the emotional and spiritual attachments that continue to bind a person to unresolved experiences.
Recapitulation and the reclamation of lost energy. Students begin systematically examining the events, relationships, wounds, attachments, and unresolved experiences that continue to consume emotional and spiritual energy, learning to reclaim that energy and redirect it toward their relationship with God.
Purifying the Way and understanding the Wake Theory. Students learn that spiritual development is not confined to meditation or prayer. Every thought, word, decision, relationship, and action leaves a wake. The emerging mystic therefore begins deliberately bringing ordinary life into alignment with the spiritual path.
Prayer, sacred sound, and the beginning of energetic prayer. Students move beyond prayer as words alone and begin exploring the relationship between intention, breath, sound, vibration consciousness, the body, and the projection of prayer.
Introduction to the New Testament and the mystical interpretation of Scripture. Biblical study begins with particular attention to the teachings of Christ, the Kingdom of God, transformation, healing, prayer, faith, spiritual authority, death and resurrection, and the interior meanings found within Scripture.
Historical foundations of Christian mysticism and the Desert tradition. Students encounter the Desert Fathers and Mothers and the early contemplative tradition, discovering the Christian roots of silence, watchfulness, asceticism, continual prayer, purification of the passions, spiritual discernment, and direct experience of God.
Adoption of a daily energetic and contemplative practice. Students establish a sustainable personal practice that can coexist with family, career, relationships, and modern responsibilities. The objective is not temporary spiritual intensity but the beginning of lifelong cultivation.
Personal accountability, forgiveness, and virtuous action. Students learn that spiritual advancement must be accompanied by increasing responsibility for thoughts and actions, genuine forgiveness of self and others, kindness, humility, and service without the need for recognition.
Three-day live in-person training and First Baptism — the Baptism of Water. Year One culminates in an intensive period of practice, integration, fellowship, and initiation marking the student's transition from foundational study into the deeper work of Christian mystical formation. Initiate Training - Year Two

Interior Transformation, Contemplation & Ascension

Year Two turns increasingly inward. Having established the foundations of practice, students begin examining the psychological and spiritual architecture through which they experience themselves, other people, and God. The emphasis shifts from learning practices toward becoming transformed by them.

The psychology of spirituality. Students examine how perception, memory, emotional conditioning, fear, identity, ego, trauma, expectation, and unconscious patterns shape spiritual experience.
A Course in Miracles as a year-long discipline of perception. Students undertake the 365-day Workbook while studying the Text and Manual for Teachers, using the Course as a sustained practice of examining fear, forgiveness, judgment, ego, love, perception, and the habitual narratives through which the mind interprets reality.
Resolving personal beliefs and social imprinting. Students identify inherited assumptions about God, worthiness, sin, punishment, authority, spirituality, success, failure, and identity and begin separating authentic conviction from unconscious conditioning.
Healing wounds associated with religion and the Church. Students are encouraged to confront unresolved anger, fear, shame, disappointment, distrust, and spiritual injury without abandoning Christ because of the failures of religious institutions or individuals.
The inner structure of prayer and the power of sacred sound. Prayer becomes increasingly experiential as students explore breath, intention, resonance, sacred names, mantra, vocalization, silence, and the relationship between sound and consciousness.
The Inner Temple and the development of contemplation. Students deepen their capacity for interior silence, stillness, recollection, and sustained awareness of God, gradually moving from performing prayer toward inhabiting a life of prayer.
The great Christian contemplatives. Study expands into the Desert Fathers, John Cassian, Teresa of Ávila, John of the Cross, Brother Lawrence, the Jesus Prayer tradition, and other major voices whose lives demonstrate purification, contemplation, perseverance, surrender, and union with God.
Watchfulness and purification of the passions. Students learn to recognize thoughts, impulses, anger, fear, desire, pride, spiritual vanity, and other interior movements without automatically identifying with or acting upon them. This creates the interior space in which genuine spiritual freedom can emerge.
The beginning of ascension training. Students are introduced to increasingly advanced practices involving the Three Bodies, the Body of Light, expanded consciousness, spiritual perception, dream work, and the relationship between physical, energetic, and spiritual existence.
Developing the Body of Light. Students begin working with practices intended to cultivate the radiant spiritual dimension of the human person while learning that mystical development must always remain subordinate to humility, purity of heart, discernment, and service.
Continued exploration of Holy Scripture. Biblical study becomes increasingly contemplative, examining Scripture not simply for information but as a living spiritual text capable of informing prayer, transformation, discernment, healing, and the student's relationship with Christ.
Christ consciousness and transformation into the likeness of Christ. The year increasingly focuses upon the central objective of the path: not accumulating unusual experiences, but allowing the student's character, consciousness, relationships, and actions to become progressively Christ-like.
Three-day live in-person training and Second Baptism — the Baptism of Fire. Year Two culminates in an intensive period of advanced practice and initiation marking the student's movement from foundational purification into the deeper work of illumination and spiritual transformation. Ordination/The Priest Path - Year Three

Illumination, Discernment, Healing & Divine Service

Year Three changes the question. The student is no longer asking only, “How do I transform myself?” The emerging priest must begin asking, “How can the person I have become be placed in service to God and others?” Advanced mystical practice therefore develops alongside greater humility, responsibility, discernment, healing, and preparation for ministry.

Advanced contemplative prayer and sustained awareness of God. Students continue developing the movement from scheduled spiritual practice toward continual recollection, learning to carry prayer and awareness of God's presence into ordinary life. The eventual objective is a life in which prayer becomes relationship rather than merely an activity.
Advanced Body of Light and Three Bodies training. Students deepen their understanding and experience of the physical, energetic, and spirit bodies while undertaking increasingly sophisticated practices of spiritual illumination and expanded consciousness.
Spiritual verticality and ascension-oriented practice. Training introduces increasingly advanced methods of shifting consciousness beyond habitual identification with the physical body while maintaining grounding, discernment, protection, and a Christ-centered orientation.
Dream work, spiritual perception, and experiences beyond ordinary consciousness. Students investigate dreams, visions, intuitive perception, expanded states, and other mystical phenomena while learning never to confuse extraordinary experience with spiritual maturity.
Discernment of spirits and spiritual influences. Students explore historical Christian understandings of benevolent and malevolent spiritual influences alongside psychological, emotional, and energetic explanations for experiences often interpreted as spiritual phenomena.
Differentiating spiritual phenomena from psychological projection. Particular attention is given to the possibility that fear, resentment, trauma, anxiety, unresolved emotion, and unconscious material may be experienced as apparently external spiritual disturbance. The priest must learn discernment before interpretation.
Spiritual protection and maintaining personal sovereignty. Students develop disciplined approaches to prayer, energetic boundaries, sacred space, spiritual protection, and maintaining integrity of the physical, energetic, and spiritual bodies during advanced practice and ministry.
Divine healing and the healing ministry of Christ. Students explore healing through the relationship among faith, forgiveness, prayer, intention, responsibility, surrender, spiritual alignment, and divine grace, with the healing ministry of Jesus serving as the central Christian model.
Intercessory prayer and praying for others. The student learns the enormous difference between personal mystical practice and assuming responsibility within another person's spiritual life. Prayer increasingly becomes an act of service rather than self-development.
Spiritual authority without spiritual ego. Students examine the dangers of pride, status, exceptionalism, mystical identity, perceived spiritual gifts, and the temptation to mistake unusual experiences for holiness. Greater spiritual responsibility must produce greater humility.
The mystical traditions of purification, illumination, and union. The writings of the saints and contemplatives are revisited as maps of actual spiritual development, allowing students to locate their own experiences within the broader Christian mystical tradition.
The priest as servant rather than spiritual celebrity. Ministry is framed around availability, compassion, discretion, responsibility, humility, and service. The priest is formed to point beyond himself or herself toward Christ rather than becoming the center of another person's spiritual life.
Learning to accompany others spiritually. Students begin developing the maturity required to listen, counsel, pray with, encourage, challenge, and support others while recognizing appropriate boundaries and the limits of their role.
Advanced Scripture and mystical theology. Biblical study continues alongside the great contemplative writers, allowing Scripture, tradition, experience, reason, prayer, and practice to increasingly function as an integrated spiritual worldview.
Integration of the Three-Year Path. Students revisit the foundational work of conduct, forgiveness, recapitulation, energetic cultivation, prayer, contemplation, psychological transformation, ascension, discernment, and service and integrate these elements into a coherent personal Rule of Life.
Preparation for ordination. The final stage is not treated as graduation from spiritual training. Ordination represents acceptance of greater responsibility: a commitment to prayer, continued formation, ethical conduct, service, spiritual accountability, and the responsible stewardship of the Christian mystical tradition.
Ordination into the Priesthood. Upon satisfactory completion of the required formation, practice, live training, and discernment process, qualified candidates may enter ordained service, marking the transition from student of the Mysteries to servant and steward of the path.

Post Ordination- Year Three and Beyond (Optional)

Ministry, Mastery & Lifelong Formation

Ordination does not mark the completion of the Christian mystical path. It marks the beginning of a different relationship with it. The ordained priest moves from a curriculum centered primarily upon personal formation into a lifelong process of deepening prayer, wisdom, service, discernment, healing, teaching, and responsibility.

Continued advanced contemplative formation. Priests maintain and deepen the disciplines of prayer, silence, Scripture, meditation, energetic cultivation, self-examination, and communion with God established during the three-year path.
Living a mature Rule of Life. Personal spiritual practice is integrated with family, vocation, relationships, health, service, study, rest, and responsibility so that priesthood becomes a way of living rather than a title or role assumed only during spiritual activities.
The practice of the Presence of God. The post-ordination path increasingly emphasizes continuous recollection: carrying awareness of God through work, conversation, difficulty, service, solitude, and the ordinary circumstances of daily life.
Continued purification of the priest. Ordination does not eliminate ego, fear, attachment, resentment, pride, or unresolved wounds. Priests therefore remain committed to the same forgiveness, recapitulation, self-examination, watchfulness, and inner work expected of every student.
Advanced spiritual discernment. Priests continue developing the ability to distinguish among spiritual experience, psychological material, emotional projection, intuition, imagination, energetic phenomena, and genuine movements of grace.
Healing and intercessory ministry. Qualified priests may continue developing their ability to pray for and spiritually support others while remaining grounded in humility, appropriate boundaries, informed consent, and recognition of when medical, psychological, pastoral, or other professional care is required.
Spiritual protection and care of sacred space. Continued training may explore more advanced approaches to blessing, purification, protection, prayer, sacred objects, homes, environments, and circumstances requiring mature spiritual discernment.
Advanced study of Christian mystical literature. Formation continues through Scripture and the great contemplative tradition, including the Desert Fathers, Cassian, the Philokalia, Teresa of Ávila, John of the Cross, the Jesus Prayer tradition, Brother Lawrence, and other voices capable of deepening the priest's understanding of the interior life.
Teaching the Mysteries responsibly. Those called to teach learn that transmitting spiritual practices requires more than knowing their mechanics. The teacher must understand sequence, readiness, contraindications, context, integration, and the spiritual responsibility created whenever another person places trust in them.
Mentorship and spiritual accompaniment. Experienced priests may gradually assume greater responsibility for supporting newer students, helping them navigate the same processes of purification, transformation, doubt, practice, mystical experience, and integration through which they themselves have passed.
Service as the measure of spiritual maturity. Mystical experiences, spiritual gifts, visions, knowledge, titles, and ordination are ultimately secondary. The mature priest is measured by the fruit of the life: humility, compassion, forgiveness, courage, wisdom, stability, kindness, integrity, and willingness to serve.
Continuing transformation into the likeness of Christ. The post-ordination path returns repeatedly to the central purpose of the entire curriculum. The objective is not simply to know more about Christian mysticism. It is to become progressively transparent to the life of Christ.
A lifelong commitment to Divine service. There is deliberately no final graduation from the mystical life. The priest continues as both teacher and student, continually returning to prayer, Scripture, contemplation, self-examination, service, and the mystery of God with the understanding that ordination is not the end of the journey—it is the beginning of a deeper responsibility.
